LIFESPAN OF A SWISS STARTUP

HOW LONG DO STARTUPS "SURVIVE" IN SWITZERLAND?

The Swiss Federal Statistical Office has recently published the results of a demographic analysis about Swiss companies (UDEMO - not available in English -  https://www.bfs.admin.ch/bfs/de/home/statistiken/industrie-dienstleistungen/erhebungen/udemo.html), from which the health status of Swiss startups can be inferred. The data show a "survival" rate of 84% of startups at the first year mark which drops to 71% at the second year,  59% at the third and 55% at the fourth year.

In Ticino, the data are above the national average, respectively at 86% survival rate at the first year, 73% at the second, 64% sat the third and 60% at the fourth year.
Startups may incur in numerous issues: from commercial presence to less-than-stellar cash flows, managing a startup nowaday  requires considerable vision and punctuality, particularly when it comes to administrative deadlines and regulatory requirements. Today, the legal, administrative and fiscal burdens are more present than ever before.

Launching a Startup today is a complicated matter which may hide difficulties which should be addressed with clarity and with the big picture in mind: there is in fact a kairòs, an appropriate time to make conscious choices which will determine the trend of the company in the medium and long terms, whether they be monetary, fiscal or commercial ones.
